1.  You Name It!

The teachers at the Outdoor Education Center thought you might want to know a little about what to expect during your stay.  Buses will pick fifth-grade students up at two or three different elementary schools for their trip to the Outdoor Education Center.  The bus trip will take about two and a half hours.  You will arrive at the OEC at around 12:00 noon, where you will unload and gop through a short orientation.  You will meet our principal who will explain the Outdoor Education Center expectations and your responsibilities.  You will meet your cabin teacher who will take you and your group to lunch.

Don't be worried if you and your best friend end up in different groups.  There will be other students from your school in your group and it will be surprisingly easy to make new friends.  Plus, just think; the new friends you and your best friend make can all become friends.  Friends multiply!

You and your new friends will be forming a community in your cabin.  Cooperation is the key to building this community.  Remember that everyone in the group is important and can contribute to the group.

During the week, your cabin group might go to a short movie, have a cookout, enjoy a campfire, take a night hike, or participate in other activities.  The cabin groups usually have about 12 students each.  Of course, boys and girls are in different parts of the center.  During the day you will be attending instructional activities.  The classrooms here have trees for walls, the sky for a ceiling, and the carpet is made of leaves.
